UKCC Vs UC (UCC T20 game 2)

UKCC won against UC by 56 runs.

UC won the toss and Nabil put UKCC into batting considering their winning streak against CICC last week. Akshay and Hari opened the innings and started the first three overs slow ensuring no early loss in wickets. Akshay opened his blazing hot attack in the fourth over and pummeled 18 runs. During the eighth over Akshay played all around an angled ball and got bowled (42 runs). Stavan replaced Akshay. With much of the poweplay overs were played by Akki, Hari started to settle into rhythm in the 9th and 10th overs (74/1 in 10 overs). With some good singles and two taken in the 11th and 12th over Hari tried to up the run rate and got out for 15 (12 overs - 85). Russel was in his peak form as he scored 4,3,1,6 in his first 4 balls. Unfortunately he got run out on the runner end for a straight drive from Stavan. Good captaincy by Nabil and bowl to field bowling by UC bowlers frustrated Rohan and Stavan into scoring runs in the 14-17 overs. Ketu and Rajesh swung at everything to up the run rate, but were futile due to some good bowling. An easy 170 seemed too far with the score being 129 at the end of 19 overs. Prasanna played some good shots and thanks to drop catches he finished UKCC's innings at 146/6.

UC sent Abir and Niri for a flying start. A beautiful first over for just 2 runs by Rohit Tammanagari (3-0-12-0) ensured that our bowlers were not giving any chances to UC. In the second over, Niri got run out due to a good dive by Prasanna and collection by bowler Ramana (3-0-19-0). Sanchit - the aggressive square of the wicket player and sensible Abir stayed put and ensured that the scoreboard got ticking along with the regular boundaries. Ketu's 10th over spell was the turning point when he took both the settled batsmen in consecutive balls (great catching by Rohit V and Akki). At the half way mark the equation was 85 required of 10 overs with 7 wickets in hand. 11th over bowled by Rohit Vuppuluri was carefully dealt with the batsmen. Again a wicket from Ketu in the 13th over proved vital for UKCC's breather (3-0-20-3). 2 consecutive wickets of Rohit V in the 15th over of Arvind and Nabil ensured that UC had no chance to rejuvenate from the collapse. A wicket for Stavan (2-0-15-1), a run out by Hari/Rohit V and the final blow from Rohit V (3-0-13-4) finished UC's innings well short of the 100 run mark.

With yet another comfortable win, UKCC is leading Group D's points table (NRR of 4.25) and is playing an away game on Sunday against Kalvinsoft Cinci. UKCC needs one more win to qualify to the knockout stage.
