UKCC Vs EKUDCC (UCCT20 game 1)

UKCC Vs EKUDCC 20-20 bulletin:

EKU won the toss and chose to chase. Rajesh and Hari opened the innings. EKU went with the IPL strategy of using a spinner in the very first over. Rajesh capitalized on the opportunity and scored a six. But he got out for 8 runs from 5 balls in the second over. Stavan came in. Stavan and Hari played a very patient game ousting any chances that can be given to EKU's bowling line up in the first 6 overs. After 6 overs with 20 runs on the board, UKCC tried to up the run rate, but were held down by some good bowling till the 8th over. A beautiful pull by Stavan of a short rising ball started UKCC's onslaught. 10 overs - 54 runs, 11 overs 56 runs. The next 3 overs UKCC scored 42 runs. Stavan got out at 52 (41 balls). Russel replaced Stavan and ran good with Hari to keep the run rate going. Hari got out during the 16th over - 45 (41 balls). The next 4 overs was a sheer sight of bludgeoning of the EKU bowlers by Ketu with his mighty sixes. He remained not out at 30 (15 balls). UKCC scored 169 (Great bowling by EKU in giving only 12 extras - 9 wides).
With a lot of runs on the board, EKU had to go full fledged in terms of attack. Sai's first over of 2 runs proved that it is not going to be that easy to score (3-0-8-1). Second over bowled by Ramana made UKCC gain the upper hand. After slicing Ramana (2-0-15-1) over point, Prageeth misjudged a slow inswinging yorker and got bowled. The very next over Sai bowled Shoeb. After discussing with Prasanna, Stavan took the ball from the fast bowlers (who were being just played safe by Sunil and Akshar) and caught Sunil in his very second ball. Sai Aravapalli's aggressive approach was the only limelight to the EKU team. Continued spell by Stavan on one end and Rohit Vuppuluri on the other end increased the pressure on the batsmen and both Sai and Akshar got out by going for big shots. Seven more overs later Stavan (4-1-12-4) and Rohit V (4-0-10-3) finished their spells (Honorary mention - Ramana took 3/3 running catches). Rohit Bhandari was brought into the attack to finish the innings. He took the last wicket in his very first ball thereby making his statistics against EKU look stronger (strike rate - 400; Bowling average - 0) as usual. EKU were all out at 55 runs in 14 overs (12 extras)

It was a great team game and UKCC face UC at home next Sunday.
Thanks to Taj India who sponsored our food for the game. We would also like to thank all our other sponsors (Masala, Sagar) too.
